Datasets are now available to download for use with the Countryside Information System (CIS).
CS in 2007 used a modified version of the ITE Land Classification, separating England and Wales increasing the size of the classification from 40 to 45 land classes. The results for previous surveys have been re-analysed using the new classification and are published along with the CS2007 results on the web and in reports for the UK, England, Scotland and Wales.
The results below will operate in CIS rev 8, but both the classification and results must be downloaded. Three types of file are provided, the land class summaries (results presented as means and standard errors), the new land classification (identifying the land class of every square) and the masks describing the land area surveyed. All files should be stored on a local (C:) drive to ensure smooth operation and the land classification and summary files must be in the same directory.
